Charles Kaufman has been creating and selling 3D Art Constructions for nearly 20 years.
Each 3D Art Construction is created from an original painting and then handcrafted to build a multi-layered, 3 dimensional work of art.

The Making of a 3-D Art Construction.
Each 3-D Art Construction is carefully handcrafted to cut, glue and fit the various parts together.

1. First an original painting is created in either acrylic or oil paints.

2. The painting is then scanned, creating a high resolution digital file that is used for printing.

3. Then a giclée print on archival paper is made from the scanned art work. Each Giclée print is created with archival inks on archival paper and printed in my art studio.

-Then, depending on the final work of 3-D art, a second (or more) Giclée print on archival paper is created.

4. The different parts of the print are cut out and....

Each 3D Art Construction is multi-layered, giving it a 3-D effect.

No mass production - each 3-D Art Construction is handmade when ordered.

In the graphic above you can see the 3 different layers of the 3-D Art Construction: The background (blue); the middle level (red) and the top level (green).

...then carefully mounted approximately 1/5 inch (5 mm) or more on top of the first print, giving the print a unique raised, 3-D effect.

5. The 3-D Art Constructions are signed, dated and numbered by the artist.

6. Finally the 3-D Art Construction is put in a frame behind glass and a white mat.

At the right is a photo of the finished, signed, numbered, dated and titled 3-D Art Contruction. It is difficult to show in the photo, but the art work has depth to it.

Each 3-D Art Construction is handcrafted from an original painting by Charles Kaufman.
