The sketch idea for the painting. When I first came up with the idea, it was of a woman with arms wrapped around herself in a room and paintings on the walls, When the painting was finished it had the idea of the sketch, but it had changed quite a bit from first idea for it and the usually style I have for painting. I did not at the time envision the walls to be black with lines on them, fire in the room or the paintings would be of landscapes. Nor had I planned on a thick paint brush style with lots of lines. Usually when I come up with an idea for a painting, it is just a rough idea. Nothing fixed or rigid on how the painting should be. As the painting progresses it sometimes takes a life of its own and makes changes to end up as the finished painting.
